Opening Reflection
In the unfolding story of creation, redemption, and restoration, God reveals His divine wisdom through visions given to the prophets—Daniel, Isaiah—and ultimately through the rise of the Messianic order. These visions paint a picture of a world transformed by God's power, where His wisdom governs all creation, and the Messiah reigns in righteousness. Romans 11 reminds us that we are grafted into this divine plan, becoming part of the cultivated olive tree, nourished by the rich promises given to Israel.
Jewish mysticism speaks of the heart—lev meivin da'at—as the seat of wisdom, and the Scriptures guide us into a deeper understanding of how we, as born-again believers, are connected to God’s purposes. In the new garden, Ahlab ("fertile place"), we are part of a revolution, restoring what was broken, receiving divine wisdom, and participating in the rise of the Messianic order.
Scripture Reading: Romans 11:17-18 (NLT)
"But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree. But you must not brag about being grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root."
The Visions of Daniel: The Stone that Became a Mountain
In the book of Daniel, we encounter a vision that reveals the rise of God’s kingdom. In Daniel 2:34-35, a stone cut without human hands strikes the great statue, symbolizing the empires of the world, and becomes a great mountain that fills the earth. This stone represents the rise of the Messianic order, a kingdom not built by human hands but by divine wisdom and power.
As we are grafted into God’s plan, we become part of this kingdom, rooted in divine wisdom and nourished by the promises given to Abraham. This new kingdom, like the mountain in Daniel's vision, is established by the Messiah, who is the cornerstone. We, as believers, are living stones being built into a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5), connected to the wisdom that flows from the heart of God through Christ.
Daniel’s vision of the stone that becomes a mountain speaks to the transformation that occurs when divine wisdom is applied to our lives. Just as the wild branches are grafted into the cultivated olive tree in Romans, so we are grafted into this new kingdom—one that will rise above all others and fill the earth with God’s glory.
The Vision of Isaiah: The Branch of Jesse
In Isaiah 11, we see the prophecy of the Branch from the root of Jesse—a Messianic promise that speaks of the coming of Christ. Isaiah 11:1-2 (NLT) says,
"Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord."
This prophecy reveals the rise of the Messianic order, rooted in wisdom, understanding, and divine power. The Branch of Jesse—Jesus Christ—brings forth a kingdom of peace, righteousness, and wisdom. As those grafted into this Messianic order, we are called to bear fruit that reflects the Spirit of the Lord.
In the fertile place, Ahlab, we cultivate this wisdom in our lives. Like the Branch of Jesse, we are rooted in the same divine promises and nourished by the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. As we build our lives in faith, we become part of the restoration of creation, participating in the rise of the Messianic kingdom.
The Heart of Eve and the Rise of Divine Wisdom
Jewish mysticism teaches that the heart—lev—is the seat of wisdom, and meivin da'at refers to "a heart that understands knowledge." To fully grasp divine wisdom, a man must connect with the heart of Eve, the first woman, who embodies divine intuition and understanding. In Genesis, Eve was created from Adam’s side, and through her, life and wisdom flowed into creation.
As we are grafted into the Messianic order, we access this divine wisdom through Christ, the second Adam. The heart of Eve represents the gateway to this understanding, a fertile place where the seeds of life and wisdom take root. In the union of a born-again man and a pure woman, this fertile place—Ahlab—is fully realized, and divine wisdom is nurtured and brought to fruition.
Romans 11 reminds us not to boast about being grafted into the olive tree, for it is not we who sustain ourselves, but the root—the promises of God. As branches grafted into this divine plan, we must remain humble, allowing the wisdom that flows from the heart of Eve and the Messianic promises to transform us.
The New Garden in Revelation: The Tree of Life
Revelation 22 gives us a vision of the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan—the new garden, where the tree of life stands by the river of the water of life. The tree bears twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month, and its leaves are for the healing of the nations. This vision is the culmination of the rise of the Messianic order, where all creation is restored, and divine wisdom governs the earth.
In this new garden, Ahlab, the fertile place, we are grafted into the tree of life, nourished by the wisdom that flows from the throne of God. The heart of Eve, which represents the source of divine wisdom, is restored in this new creation. Just as Adam and Eve were placed in the first garden, we, too, are placed in this new garden, partaking of the tree of life and fulfilling the divine plan.
The visions of Daniel and Isaiah point to this ultimate restoration. The stone that becomes a mountain in Daniel’s vision is the rise of the Messianic kingdom, and the Branch of Jesse in Isaiah’s prophecy reveals the coming of Christ, the King. Revelation shows us the fulfillment of these visions, where the Messianic order reigns forever, and we are grafted into its eternal promises.
Prayer for Wisdom in the Messianic Kingdom
Father,
We thank You for grafting us into Your divine plan, for the rich nourishment that flows from the promises You made to Abraham and his descendants. We praise You for the wisdom that flows from the heart of Eve and for the visions You gave to Your prophets.
Lord, as we participate in the rise of the Messianic order, may we walk in humility, knowing that it is not we who sustain ourselves, but You who sustain us. Grant us the heart of wisdom, lev meivin da'at , and help us to bear fruit that reflects Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
