Song of Songs 6:3, “I am my lover’s, and my lover is mine. He browses among the lilies,” brings to mind a profound connection, not only between two lovers but between creation and its Creator. In the context of building the "new garden," this verse resonates as we seek to create something beautiful, sustainable, and rooted in purpose. The “browsing among the lilies” evokes imagery of harmony in the garden, a place where everything is in balance, thriving under the tender care of a gardener.
As we continue the journey with BPE&C Energy Corp, we aim to cultivate a new kind of garden—one built on innovation, sustainability, and stewardship of energy resources. The lilies of our garden are the technologies we carefully select, the relationships we nurture, and the systems we put in place for future generations. Our work in renewable energy, microgrids, and peer-to-peer sharing reflects this idea of planting seeds today that will bear fruit tomorrow, in harmony with both nature and community.
Verses 5-7, describing the physical beauty of the beloved, remind us that creation, and by extension the work we do, is not merely functional but intended to reflect beauty and order. The intricate detail in this imagery of hair like waves, teeth as white as sheep, and rosy cheeks behind a veil speaks to the beauty in intentional design. In our approach to building the new energy infrastructure, we, too, are called to focus on precision and care in every step. Each system we install, each project we undertake is meant to reflect a well-thought-out design, not just to meet needs but to inspire and sustain life.
Verse 10 then paints a picture of majesty: “Who is this, arising like the dawn, as fair as the moon, as bright as the sun, as majestic as an army with billowing banners?” Just as the dawn brings light and the moon and sun illuminate, our task in building this "new garden" is to bring light to the world, both literally and metaphorically. As we move towards energy solutions that are renewable, just, and innovative, we rise like this majestic figure, offering new possibilities and leading the way toward a more sustainable future.
The garden we are building is more than just infrastructure—it is a place where people and communities can flourish, where the energy we harness and distribute is life-giving, not draining. Like the dawn, our efforts are meant to rise and illuminate the path forward, showing others how we can live in balance with creation and each other, cultivating a world where the work of our hands reflects the beauty, order, and love of the Creator.
In this pursuit, we are reminded of the greatest commandment of all: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” And the second, like it, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39). These commandments call us to a higher standard in everything we do. As we build this new garden, we do so with the heart of serving others, knowing that to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" (Luke 6:31) is at the core of our mission. In providing energy solutions, we are not just meeting a need but creating systems that reflect love, care, and mutual respect, helping our neighbors as we would want to be helped, and contributing to a more just and sustainable future for all.
